Man wanted for deadly Bundles of Hair robbery charged with first-degree murder
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man wanted by police for shooting an employee of a hair store during a robbery has been taken into custody.
The shooting happened on February 10 at the Bundles of Hair store in the 5000 block of Millbranch Road.
Julius Russell and another person were wearing ski masks and dressed all in black when they went into the store, demanded hair and then shot the employee.
That victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
A witness to the shooting positively identified Russell as the suspect in a six person photo lineup.
Just three days later, Russell was taken into custody.
He waived his Miranda Rights and told officers the entire thing was a robbery gone wrong.
He also told investigators he had planned the robbery and expected to make money from the stolen goods.
Russell was charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery and aggravated assault.
He’s expected to appear in court on Thursday.
