WASHINGTON — A Memphis man accused of shooting and killing a dog is expected in court Thursday.

Christopher Finch is charged with animal cruelty and aggravated assault.

Police say the shooting happened two weeks ago.

The dog owner told police he was with a friend at his home on Moss Valley Drive when Finch arrived.

He said Finch asked his friend to come outside, and the dog followed.

That’s when Finch allegedly pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and shot the dog.

The owner said he ran indoors when Finch began to reload his gun, leaving the dog outside.

The dog later died of her injuries.
