FLORIDA — What was supposed to be a fun in the sun Christmas getaway, instead turned into a nightmare trip that resembled a scene from a horror movie.

Matt Davis and his family were aboard the Carnival Ecstasy on a three day cruise when they discovered blood pouring down the front of the elevator.

“I look and see there was blood dripping out of the elevator. It was like a real life scene from “The Shining”,” he said.

Cruise officials sealed off the elevator and began an investigation into what happened.

According to CNN, 66-year-old electrician Jose Sandoval Opazo was working on an elevator when the accident occurred.

“A crew member or somebody was inside or behind that wall when the elevator came down, and I don’t know what happened, but something terrifying happened,” Davis told reporters of what he witnessed.

Carnival released a statement saying, “The company extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of our team member. … Appropriate authorities have been notified and a full investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.”
