MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Investigators with the Memphis Fire Department are looking into two fires that damaged a Fox Meadows business and a Whitehaven apartment complex early Tuesday.

The first fire started around midnight at the Swagg Clothing Store at Mendenhall and Winchester.

The fire heavily damaged the inside of the store which recently opened for business.

Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause — since the business was locked at the time of the fire.

The second fire broke out just after 4 a.m. at the Hillcrest Apartments on Southwind Drive near Raines and Elvis Presley Blvd.

It only took firefighters a few minutes to put out the flames and the fire was contained to one unit.

Firefighters say an adult and two children were inside at the time — but they weren’t hurt.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.
