Police: Child shot at Forrest City football game by nearby hunter

FORREST CITY, Ark. — A 10-year-old is in the hospital after being shot in the foot at a pee wee football game in Forrest City, police said.

The shooting occurred due to a hunting accident, police said. The football field is next to a wooded area, where a hunter fired his weapon, hitting the kid on the field.

It happened at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

The child was taken to Forrest City Medical Center with an injury that is not life-threatening.

FCPD is still investigating. Police do have a person of interest in custody, and charges are pending.
