MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dressed in white, members from several Memphis churches took part in a march for peace Sunday.

They called it White Out Sunday, and they filled the streets of downtown Memphis.

Organizers planned to walk rain or shine. Thankfully, when the 2 p.m. start time arrived, the sun shined from the start of the walk at City Hall to the end at the National Civil Rights Museum.

Organizers said they marched to show they are united in taking a stand against crime and violence in Memphis.

About 1,000 people participated.
