MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A family is dealing with the murder of an Oakhaven mother of two who was found stabbed to death outside her home.

Saturday, family members did their best to comfort the victim’s heartbroken 11-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son.

“Love you, momma, I hope you rest in peace,” Gerrod Bolton, her son, said.

Gerrod insisted on speaking to WREG, hoping it would help ease his pain. The young teen found his mom, Yolunda Bolton, stabbed to death on their front porch early Saturday morning.

“When he opened the door, she was laying right there in a puddle of blood,” cousin Felicia Pigues said.

Neighbors said Bolton is the victim of domestic violence. 34-year-old Bolton and her boyfriend argued outside the home Friday night when she left and ran to the store. But neighbors told WREG that when she returned, the boyfriend was waiting for her in her front yard.

“We’ve been hollering, crying, falling out, it’s been rough, but right now are calm,” Pigues said.

Pigues and dozens of other loved ones surrounded Bolton’s home on Birdsong Ferry Road on Saturday morning.

“I just pray God’s strength upon us, Pigues” said.

“I can’t tell you what I’m feeling right now, but it hurts,” Gerrod said.

Gerrod said can’t describe his pain. Not because he is too young, but because it is too much for anyone to process.

“She left, and I ain’t get to say goodbye,” he said.

Police have a man in custody. He has not officially been charged with anything.

The deadly stabbing is still under investigation.
