DeSoto County deputy shot in Tate County, MS

TATE COUNTY, Miss. — The Tate County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that injured an off-duty DeSoto County deputy.

It happened around 1p.m. Saturday in the Strayhorn Community in Tate County.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department tells WREG, the deputy is in non-critical condition. The suspect is in custody at this time, and this is not law enforcement related.

Investigators say the deputy was shot by his father-in-law in his arm.

The Tate County Sheriff’s Department is investigating this shooting.
