Mr. Hud was a great man. I met him in 1988 when I was a sophomore at Fairley. I was a baritone saxophonist in the marching band. After I graduated we became friends as he was my church member also, he also played at my wedding. He was supremely talented with music but most of all he touched the kids he taught and gave them hope and inspiration. My church family will greatly miss him and so will the students at Overton and the Memphis Music Community. We all are praying for his wife and children. Rest is Paradise Jeff, we miss you already.

I met Jeff when he was a freshman and Mississippi Valley State University. I later pledged him and helped bring him in to Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He was an amazing friend, band member and brother. The news comes as a shock. He will be greatly missed. May God bless his family, in their time of sorrow. On to Omega chapter, my brother. Mitch.
