MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis man died from his injures one month after being beaten with a tire iron.

The man police say is responsible was arrested over the weekend. Terrance Gray has been charged with aggravated assault resulting in the death of another.

Police said Gray hit James Taylor on July 26 with a tire iron during a fight outside the Shop & Save convenience store on South Third Street.

Taylor was treated at the hospital for a broken eye socket and released the next day, but he suffered complications, slipped into a coma, and died a month later.

Police haven't said what the fight was about, but say Gray admitted to hitting Taylor with the tire iron.

He is locked up on $40,000 bond.
