MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Neighbors just south of downtown are interested in learning more about a childcare center rumored to be on the way near Vance and Danny Thomas.

There's a posted public notice about the proposed childcare center near there, not far from FedEx Forum.

"They're trying to make it a better community because it's so hard out here, because a lot of kids get in a lot of trouble," said father David Sims.

He said not everyone in the area has cars to drop off their children at childcare centers, so the new facility would make things easier.

He said he might enroll his daughter in the affordable facility once it opens.

Reports suggest the person planning the center targets low-income areas in order to provide affordable childcare.

That person reportedly operates Bright Beginnings in Whitehaven.

Some people in the neighborhoods near the new proposed  site said the area has many problems, and a daycare might not be enough to fix that.

WREG left several messages for the reported operator of the facilities, but has not heard back yet.
