Prep big man chooses Memphis over others

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Lexington High big man Nick Marshall, a 6-11 center, verbally committed on Tuesdsay to sign with Memphis.

The senior to be chose the Tigers over Tennessee, South Carolina, UConn, Indiana and Mississippi State.

Marshall averaged 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Lexington last season as a junior, but really got national attention for his play on the AAU Summer circuit last month.

Marshall, who is 17, plans to a year at a prep school after graduating from Lexington and then join the Tigers as a member of the 2016 class.

    A true center and the Lawson boys upfront, and with the other guys returning should be a pretty good team. Hopefully the coaching will get better, because with that talent there is no room for excuses.

    Memphis has always needed a big man coach. Hope they can develop this guys game because his frame alone gives him NBA potential.
