MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are searching for two people involved in a shoplifting and aggravated assault incident Saturday.

It happened at the TJ Maxx store in 5100 block of Park Avenue.

Police tell us it started when a security guard tried to stop a shoplifter who was caught trying to walk out of the store with several Michael Kors purses.

The guard told police while he was taking the suspect to the security office, the man started yelling he had AIDS and was going to give it to the guard.

Police say once in the office, the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and attempted to stab the guard.

At that point, police tell us the guard either passed out or was knocked out.

When the guard finally woke, he was covered in blood with no wounds.

Witnesses say the suspect was bleeding as he ran out of the store.

The security guard was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in non-critical condition.

Police have suggested that a woman was with the suspect and the two got into a GMC Gold Rendevous with no tags.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the police.
