Raleigh-Egypt High School basketball coach dies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Raleigh-Egypt High School boys’ basketball coach died at the school Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics were called after Clarence Stokes was found unresponsive in the cafeteria. They were unable to revive him.

A Shelby County Schools spokesperson says the cause of death hasn’t been determined, but foul play isn’t suspected.

SCS will provide a statement Friday.

    I’ve known Clarence Dwayne Stokes over 30 years; we were in the same homeroom at Craigmont HS in ’82. I saw him a few years ago and it was a blessing from God to see my old HS friend..my prayers go out to his family and friends; RIP, Bro Stokes, you’ll truly be missed, my friend. 2nd Cor 5:8
