Police capture man wanted for beating up his ex-girlfriend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man wanted for stalking and attacking his ex-girlfriend last month is now behind bars.

34-year-old Tyrone Lewis was arrested late Thursday night and charged with attempted first degree murder.

Police say Lewis beat up his ex-girlfriend inside an abandoned house on Baltic Street last month.

Officers say the attack was so severe that the woman lost consciousness. She was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

According to court records, this is the fourth time that Lewis has been accused of attacking the same woman.

Lewis is currently being held without bail. He is due in court on Monday, August 4th.
