MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis pastor pleaded guilty Thursday to helping people steal U.S. Department of Treasury funds by filing false income tax returns.

An investigation by the Department of Justice revealed Pastor Craig Wilson helped other people steal $168,000. He was a pastor at New Beginnings Church, while committing the crimes in 2011 and 2012.

The U.S. Treasury tax refund checks were deposited into bank accounts controlled by Wilson and other people connected to numerous fraudulent tax returns.

Wilson faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for October 28, 2014.
