DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. -- A police chase ended in a crash in DeSoto County near Starr Landing Thursday afternoon.

We are told the person who was pursued tried to run over a police officer.

An officer apparently recognized the license plate of a man wanted in multiple states for multiple charges.

That man has been identified as 45-year-old Earl Oscar Kinsey of Salem, Mo.

He took off, almost hitting the officer.

The officer fired his service weapon, hitting the front fender.

Stop sticks were put down and the man crashed his car.

Southaven Police Chief Tom Lomg said, "There is no exit ramp there. We were able to get him stopped at the bottom of the ramp. Officers attempted to remove him, weren't able to, so K9 was deployed and the K9 made the apprehension."

The man was taken to the hospital with multiple dog bites.

The chase involved Southaven Police, DeSoto County deputies and Horn Lake police.

Wednesday, a Southaven police officer shot and killed a man who hit him with a car.
