(TUPELO, Miss.) Fifty dogs and five guinea pigs were rescued from a Tueplo home this week.

Police were alerted to a possible puppy mill at 917 Terry Road, so they and staff from the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society went to the home.

They spoke with homeowner Phyllis Wiginton, who surrendered the animals and was issued a post-arrest release for animal cruelty.

The dogs and guinea pigs were taken to the humane society.
