(WREG-TV) Photo-printing site Shutterfly sent a mass email congratulating customers on their new babies…but most of the people who received it don’t have a newborn.

Many who received the email turned to social media to share their feelings.

Some made jokes (“I didn’t even know I was pregnant! Thanks Shutterfly for congratulating me on my alien abduction baby.“), while others expressed their anger:

“Receiving an email congratulating me on my new arrival was a horrendous way to start my day. As someone who lives everyday with the nightmare of infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, Mother’s Day week is already a reminder of everything I don’t have, and I didn’t need yet another stabbing reminder of that.”

Shutterfly has responded to some of the comments, although the company has yet to explain why the email was sent to so many people in the wrong target audience.
