(Memphis) A Memphis man has been indicted on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Brian Gillum reportedly set his girlfriend’s dog on fire September 5, 2012 after a fight about car keys.

According to the District Attorney, “Gillum picked up her two-year-old miniature Doberman Pinscher named Bentley and walked outside onto the patio where he doused the dog with lighter fluid and set it on fire, investigators said.”

The dog had extensive burns on its legs, hind quarters, face and eyes and had to be euthanized.

Aggravated cruelty to animals is a felony that carries one to six years in prison.
