(Memphis) London nightclub owner, Guy Pelly, is now in town getting ready for his big day.

He's marrying Memphis native Elizabeth Wilson, the granddaughter of Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson, on Saturday, and his friends Prince William and Harry are expected to attend.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton told our Alex Coleman he is planning on a royal family visit to Memphis this weekend.

Wharton told us, "We are working on the presumption that the Royals will be here in Memphis this weekend."

The mayor went on to say,  "We are taking all precautions to be prepared."

Wharton said his office has not been in direct contact with the family.

Pelly answered the door for WREG Tuesday in Memphis. At the door of the Wilson estate, Pelly was gracious, but said he couldn't comment and wouldn't confirm if Prince Harry and William are coming to town.

Wedding guests might enjoy a private tour of Graceland.

It’s also reported that the royal brothers are going to spend one night downtown having dinner on Beale Street, so if you want to catch a glimpse of them, it might be the place to be.

“I hope they do. That would be really, really neat if they came down here and did that,” said Ty Agee, owner of Miss Polly’s on Beale.

Agee says if the royal family has plans to eat on Beale Street, they might already know where, but Agee says it’s not his restaurant and no other business owner is talking.

“I would think there would be a lot of smoke and mirrors to keep everybody off track so maybe the person, wherever they are going, might already know and just not telling the rest of us.”

“I read it in the paper in England before we came over,” said Janet James, who is visiting from England

Brits we spoke with say where ever the royal family decides to go, attention will follow.

“What should Memphis expect when they get here?” asked reporter Sabrina Hall.

“Lot’s of young girls screaming at them,” said Patricia Smith, also from England

Published reports also say William and his brother are expected to act as ushers for the outdoor ceremony at the Memphis Polo Club.

So far, no one is confirming the visit to WREG-TV.

All the drunks and stoners wandering noisily out of Tom Lee Park all weekend should amuse them greatly. What an impression…. I’m so ashamed.

  • Howard Stern

I can just see Prince William walking on Beale Street and one of the bums approach him “HEY RICH MAN…RICH MAN….can you spare some change? I’m $2 short of a beer!”

  • gary henderson

Hope they are wearing their body armor and plenty of body guards so they dont get shot by a stray bullet or get mugged.

Ty Agee, I ate at Miss Polly after the Grizzly game and the service was great and the food was great! The Royal Family would love some real cooking!

  • Joe Bledsoe

and who is paying for the extra services that must be provided by the city and county??? Yes, the taxpayers.

  • Chris Williams Junior

He’ll never be King. Queen Elizabeth refuses to step aside and Prince Charles is next in line to the non-existent throne…

This raggedy city, while Wharton is preparing for them to come in, I am preparing for him to get out! This is such a sad city, it is such an embarrassment, humiliation, shame, and poverty stricken city. It has nothing to offer for everyday common people, so what would it have to offer them????

Amazed at the negativity here!! The way Memphis is describes does not sound like the Memphis I know. I’m Downtown a few times a month and I’ve never encountered any problems. Memphis does have their problem neighborhoods but I’m sure they will never get to experience the seedier part of town. Just like any city, we have the good, the bad and the beautiful. Memphians should focus on the good and beautiful of our wonderful city!!
If they do go to a restaurant, most likely it will be Rendezvous. And I’m sure they will also try to visit Graceland. 99% of our visitors do! And they have some fabulous hotels Downtown – The Peabody, The River Inn and The Madison.
