(Ledyard, CT) Megan Hunley and Brian Osborne knew they loved each other, surviving a house fire deepened their connection and led them to the ultimate commitment.

Monday they married in front of the remains of their home, a week after the fire.

The couple was forced to run from their burning home with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Though Megan didn’t know it, Brian bought a ring months ago.

He thought the ring, which was in the home, was gone.

Luckily, a firefighter went back inside and found the ring in the bedroom beneath a pile of rubble.

WFSB-TV reported the box was burned, the ring was untouched.

The ceremony was simple, no white dress or fancy flowers.

“I wouldn’t want it any other way. All that other stuff is materialistic,” Megan said.

Instead of wearing a white dress, Megan wore her sweat pants and Brian wore a t-shirt, the same clothes they were wearing when they ran from the fire.

“It’s all symbolic, we look at it like after everything we’ve been through, why wait. You never know what’s going to happen, you never know what’s going to happen next,” said Brian.
