(West Memphis, A) For more than 50 years, 81-year-old Allene Durdin has called a house on North McAuley Drive in West Memphis home.
At 9 Monday night, it turned into a crime scene when she was brutally beaten by robbers.
“She has seven broken ribs, she has a broken nose, and bleeding of the brain,” her granddaughter said.
It all started when Durdin heard a knock at the front door.
"She called her neighbor and asked if a family member was at the front door and at about the time her neighbor got to look at the front she heard her screaming.”
Her granddaughter says while one robber knocked on the front door to distract her, another broke down the back door to get inside.
"They got her wallet, which was later recovered. But they asked for her keys and immediately, just immediately beat on her. She has a foot print on her face and it was bloody."
The neighbor who heard her screaming called police. When they arrived, they saw the two masked men running away.
Tuesday night, they were still on the run, worrying neighbors.
"I’m scared to go to sleep at night,” Mykia Dent said.
Reporter: “Will you do anything extra special tonight?”
“Pray,” Dent said.
Durdin’s granddaughter prays she recovers in the hospital and has this message to the men who sent her there.
"I want them to know that was a coward move. We are actively trying to figure out who you are, and you best believe you are going to be caught,” she said.
Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the two men.
