Today Is World Autism Day

(WREG-TV) Today is World Autism Day, signified by the color blue.

You may notice people wearing blue, changing Facebook setting to blue and even buildings lit up with blue lights.

A recent report on autism in the U.S. showed a 30 percent jump among 8-year-olds diagnosed with the disorder in a two-year period, to one in every 68 children.

Autism is a neurodevelopment disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication, and by restricted, repetitive or stereotyped behavior, is often said to affect information processing in the brain.
