Multi-Vehicle Crash Stops Traffic On I-40 At Canada Road

(Shelby County) Multiple vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, were involved in a crash that shut down eastbound lanes of I-40 at Canada Road Monday evening.

Westbound lanes were also closed for a short time.

Five people in need of medical help have been transported from the scene. None have life-threatening injuries.

The driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that ended up on its side is being cut out of the vehicle. The driver reportedly has minor injuries.

A total of six or seven vehicles were involved in the crash, which scattered debris all over the road.

Shelby County deputies and Highway Patrol are all on the scene.

The crash should be cleared by 9:40 p.m., according to TDOT's SmartMap.
