(Memphis) A cemetery worker at Forest Hill has been indicted for stealing from graves there.

Michael Carter, 30, was indicted on felony theft of property over $10,000 for allegedly stealing 31 bronze grave marker name plates and 86 bronze vases from the cemetery at forest Hill Cemetery at 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd.

The District Attorneys office says Carter sold the plates and vases last July to River City Recycling for $5,458, roughly half of their real worth.

The theft charge carries a possible sentence of 3 to 15 years in prison.
