(Memphis) A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the 2012 murder of 21-year-old H.T. Alston.

Michael Bland shot Alston at the intersection of South Orleans and Williams Street.

A few weeks before the shooting, Alton allegedly robbed Bland and his three brothers during a dice game .

Bland then threatened to rob and kill Alston the next time he saw him.

On July 12, 2012, Bland spotted Alston, went to his house to get his gun, then went back and shot Alston multiple times.

Roma Davis didn’t know Alton, but knew his family and heard the gunfire the night he was killed.

“It’s stupid, it’s stupid. Over money,” Davis said in 2012.

Davis also said two young lives were lost and two families will never be the same again.

“It was senseless, that’s all I can say. It doesn’t make any sense,” Davis added.
