Houston, TX– All season, the Tigers have avoided that dreaded ‘bad’ loss.

But that streak came to an end in Houston when, thanks to 19 points from Danuel House, the Cougars pulled the upset on the Tigers 77-68.  It’s the U of M’s first loss to a team outside the RPI’s Top 50.

Shaq Goodwin had 16 points and Michael Dixon scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, tying the game at 63 on an acrobatic lay-up with under four minutes to go.  That’s when Houston ended the game on a 14-5 run to drop the Tigers to 21-7, 10-5 and into 5th in the AAC with #7 Louisville coming to town on Saturday.

The Tigers need to realize that they must beat the team in front of them – one team at a time. Giving the news media a mouth job and disrespecting the team who just kicked their butts will not get them to the NCAA tournament. They still lack the floor leadership and basketball smarts to go very far.

Saw this coming a mile away. This is the most overrated team in basketball and will always be with Pastner at the helm. Just wait until all these upper classsmen are gone. I think we’ve seen the last week of a top-25 ranking for a very long time. Pretty sad, considering it’s March starting tomorrow.
