(Washington, D.C.) If you’re still mailing your bills and birthday cards, you may need to get some new stamps this weekend.

The price of a first-class stamp is going up $0.03 Sunday to $0.49.

Officials say the price hike will help the U.S. Postal Service recover from a severe decrease in mail, since more and more people are using email and social media.

  • not giving it

All the more reason to use email. Plus when I send someone an e-gift card I don’t have to worry about it getting stolen or getting there late.

They raise the rates and still loose money. They need to raise rates on all the junk mail that I receive. And who needs mail delivered 6 days a week? I would be happy with 3 days a week, That would save them a fortune in fuel alone. I would not be upset with 2 days a week and could live with one day a week.

And you could let the days fall of as attrition takes workers out of the postal system so there is no whining and crying from the workers.
