(WREG-TV) The man identified as a person of interest in the beating of an elderly woman has been arrested in Illinois.

Kwame Becton was taken into custody without incident by the Forest Park Police Department and will be extradited to Mississippi.

On Tuesday, officers said they had three warrants out for Becton’s arrest.

He was known to frequent the Chicago area, which is where the woman’s vehicle was found last Friday, so Southaven police worked with investigators in the Chicago area.

Just a day before his arrest, Southaven Police Lieutenant Mark Little said he thought they would bring Becton in quickly. At least two task forces in the Chicago area were looking for Becton Wednesday.

Georgie McKee was found severely beaten in her own home on December 30th.

Someone had got into the 86-year-old’s home, beat her, cut her, and then apparently left with her car.

A neighbor told WREG that she thought McKee was targeted because someone tried to break into another elderly person’s home in the middle of the night just days earlier.
