(Shelby County) A man impersonating a police officer pulled a woman over in rural Shelby County Thursday night.

The woman told authorities the man was in a four-door sedan with a blue light.

She said he made her get out of the vehicle, fondled her and forced her to the ground, then went through her vehicle and took several things.

The man is described as being 5’7″ or 5’8″ and clean-shaven, with short, dark hair. He was wearing slacks and a button-down shirt.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office cautions “all individuals to be vigilant while on the road and if you see or sense someone following you suspiciously, pull to the nearest fire station or well lighted area and call the SCSO Non-emergency number immediately at 901-379-7625.”
