(WREG-TV) There’s a big push in Shelby County aimed at getting more people to take small steps toward a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Wednesday, the county teamed up with the American Heart Association to host Random Acts of Nutrition.

The event coincides with National Eating Healthy Day, and the county’s month-long push to promote ways to fight heart disease.

“We’re symbolizing that by passing out apples and encouraging people to eat more fruit and vegetables and to exercise a little bit more,” Mayor Mark Luttrell said.

The mayor also declared Nov. 6th Eating Healthy Day in Shelby County.
