In Memphis today, the National Civil Rights Museum will be handing out its Annual Freedom Awards.

The prestigious honor serves as a symbol of the ongoing fight for human rights, both in America and worldwide.

The former President of Ireland, Ms. Mary Robinson, is this year's International Freedom Award Winner.

Time magazine named her one of their "Heroes and Icons".

President Obama awarded her with America’s highest civilian honor back in 2009, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

She currently works with the UN and is President of her own foundation which advocates for education and global justice.
