(Memphis) A 16-year-old girl was on her way home from school when she was raped near the intersection of Third and McLemore.

The 16-year-old told authorities a gray four-door car with Mississippi tags pulled up next to her, and then the man inside pointed a gun at her, sexually assaulted her, and let her go.

Thursday night, friends Gerrimeisha Gordon and Deandre Campbell were walking home on guard. Campbell said he never lets his friend walk alone, out of his sight.

“I always got to be in the back of her to watch what happens,” said Campbell

People in the neighborhood have choice words about someone who would attack an underage girl.

James McKinley said that, as a father, it strikes a huge chord with him. He's even worried about the attacker, he says with good reason.

“I feel sorry for him because when the dad catch up to him police better catch him before the dad do,” said McKinley.

MPD says the girl described her attacker as a light-complexioned black male, about 25 years old.

The investigation is ongoing.

I guess it is cultural pretty much, but I hope the DAD catches up with the guy who did this, that would be a good thing. The guy who did this is far better off if the cops catch him.
