(Memphis) BB King's Blues Club was closed for business after a fire ripped through part of the building.

There were still lots of people on Beale Street, but BB King's was closed when a fire broke out in the kitchen at around 12:30 a.m.

There was one manager inside the restaurant, but wasn't hurt.

Firefighters say a sprinkler system helped keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the restaurant or doing any real damage to surrounding buildings.

All the water used to save the building, though, created a big mess.

"We probably need a new roof and just everything to be cleaned out from the smoke and soot , but other than that it’s pretty good. The best thing about it nobody was in here and nobody got hurt," said Chef Seth Krasnove.

Restaurant employees say it could be a week or more before the restaurant is back open for business.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
