(Washington, D.C.) The stalemate in Washington could soon affect your grocery bill.

The price of milk, cheese and butter may be going up.

With Congress locked in a debate over the budget and debt ceiling, a new farm bill is not likely to be passed.

If a new bill isn’t signed into law by January first, the Department of Agriculture will revert back to 1949 laws that would force the government to pay more for products.

That would drive up the cost for everyone.
