(Hernando, MS) A Hernando mother is warning others after she claims her daughter met an older man on Instagram.

The mother, whose identity we are concealing, said her 13-year-old daughter began what she though was an innocent chat on Instagram with a man she didn’t know.

The two then exchanged phone numbers and eventually met up.

Hernando Police arrested 18-year-old Jamie Lynn Rushing II. He is now charged with statutory rape in the case.

The case was bound over to a grand jury and will be heard next month.

Now the mother is warning other parents to keep an eye on their child’s Instagram.

“You go in and you read the comments and link back to some of these people to who are following your child. In her case there were people from all over the United States, who as a kid they would just go in and let people follow them,” said the mom.

“It would also link to some of her friends Instagram accounts and there are phone numbers that her friends have posted. Some of them give out their addresses,” added the mom.
