Attempted Robbery Turns Into Gunfight

(Memphis) An attempted robbery turned into an exchange of gunfire early Thursday evening at a busy shopping center at 1977 South Third Street.

Both the would-be robber and the intended victim were hit.

Witnesses say the attempted robbery was drug related.

Police found one shooting victim still at the scene, sitting in a car.

The second shooting victim was found a short time later at Webb and South Parkway when police say they stopped the vehicle the victim was in.

MPD is still at both scenes, trying to keep people back as they investigate.

Both victims were taken in critical condition to the MED, where one was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed at this time.
