(Oxford, MS)  Minnie Hightower was one of the many parents who joined hands and formed a circle around the students of Oxford High School and prayed for comfort.

Five students were in a car crash Saturday night on Highway 310 in Panola County.

Seventeen year-old Sarah Bial died in the crash.

Friends said she just moved to Oxford last week and was taken out Saturday night by the other girls who trying to welcome her and make her feel at home.

Will Thaggard grew up with Sarah in Hattiesburg, he calls her his best friend.

Thaggard joined Oxford High School students on the school’s front lawn, for a prayer vigil.

He said thanks on behalf of Sarah's family

“They're holding up and appreciate love and support from the community and all the prayers”, said Thaggard.

Sarah may have been the new girl but she had already made friends.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and aren’t saying what caused it.

Panola County Coroner Gracie Grant Gulledge did say she encouraged teens to properly wear safety belts.

We’re told one of the other girls in the crash, has internal injuries, is in intensive care and still hasn’t been told about Sarah’s death.
