(Memphis) The charges against a 16-year-old East High School student accused of raping an 18-year-old female student have been dropped, the teen’s lawyer confirmed Thursday.

Last Thursday, the female student complained of stomach pain, then told school officials that the 16-year-old boy raped her at the school.

Deputies were in charge of the investigation because of an agreement between county schools and the sheriff’s office.

After detectives reviewed relevant documents, school video and forensic evidence, the district attorney determined that there was insufficient evidence to sustain the charges.
