(Horn Lake, MS) Irene Mullins and her friends from Texas say they aim to see everything Elvis-related there is to see on their Elvis week pilgrimage to Memphis.

”I think it’d be real interesting to see all of these things he did and where he was at."

And soon, Horn Lake, Miss., may have a place at the table.

Elvis once owned a ranch property that still attracts well-schooled Elvis fans.

A preservation group says it’s working on plans to put up an Elvis statue, similar to the one at the Memphis welcome center, at the Circle G ranch.

Horn Lake leaders like the idea.

"Elvis was a Mississippian, and he and Miss Priscilla spent their honeymoon night in what is now the city limits of Horn Lake, so we would love to be on the Elvis map."

There’s been talk about putting the statue in a Horn Lake park, since the ranch is privately owned, then moving it once the preservation group or a like-minded group can buy it.

But Horn Lake’s Mayor says Elvis belongs at Graceland and at the Circle G ranch.

”I think, when it goes up, it ought to go up on Elvis’ property to start with."

The project is still in the beginning stages, but if Elvis fans like Irene Mullins are any indication, there’s wide interest in putting Horn Lake on the Elvis map.

”I think anything that Elvis did, or anything they can do to promote him, I think people are interested in it. A lot of people are interested in it."
