(Memphis) When students in Shelby County return to school Monday, they will be part of a new consolidated school district.

Today, parents are registering them for the new year.

Parents we talked to say so far the process has gone smoothly.

The key we found is for parents to show up with all the necessary paperwork.

Despite all the changes, the registration process in the New Shelby County Schools System is basically the same as it was last year.

That was the case at William H. Brewster Elementary on Cooper Young.

Administrators expect it to be busier tonight when many parents get off work, but say right now parents are getting through in about thirty minutes.

One mother says it was better than she expected.

"It was quicker than last year," said Lareco Williams.

You can register online, but you will still have to take the online summary to your child's school today..

Registration is from 8 a.m to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. 8 p.m. today.
