This week's Pass It On is a tribute to the special bond that can form between kids and grown-ups -- sometimes in ways you might not expect.

Our $900 gift features a special 10-year-old girl who wants to help someone she had lunch with every day.

Ms. Dorothy started as a food server at Woodland Presbyterian School last year. The kids and staff all took to her right away, and head of school Adam Moore says she did them.

But then Ms. Dorothy hurt herself on a table.

Doctors thought maybe she sprained something, but, as someone who'd been battling Type II diabetes for 30 years, it was diagnosed as gangrene too late.

She's had now four surgeries and lost her left leg below her knee.
