Fedex Founder’s Mother Dies

The mother of Fedex founder and chairman Fred Smith died at age 93.

Sally Hook was born in Jackson, Tenn.

She had three sons, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Hook was active in a number of clubs, civic organizations, charities and at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

She was one of eight children, all now deceased, and was widowed three times.

A portion of East Parkway at Poplar Avenue is named in her honor.
