St. Louis, MO– The St. Louis Cardinals are sending five players to this year’s Mid-Summer Classic with two of them, voted in by the fans to start the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York.

Carlos Beltran and Yadier Molina named starters for the National League.  It’s Beltran’s 8th All-Star Game appearance while Molina is playing in his 5th straight All-Star Game.

Other Cardinals named to the N.L. team include pitcher Adam Wainwright, 1st Baseman Allen Craig and 2nd Baseman Matt Carpenter.  For Craig and Carpenter, this is their first All-Star Game.  It’s the second for Wainwright, but he will likely be replaced on the National League roster since he’s set to pitch for St. Louis in the Cardinals last game before the break.
