Beale Street Shootings Injure Two, Including Teenager

(Memphis)  Memphis Police are investigating a pair of shootings that sent two people to the hospital, including a 13-year-old boy.

The first shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside and Beale in downtown Memphis, about 15 minutes before the fireworks show on Mud Island began.

Police say a 13-year-old boy was injured in that shooting. He was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses say the teenager was shot after several young people began fighting.

Police later arrested 18-year-old Tashun Jenkins and charged him with aggravated assault. He's due to appear in court on Monday.

The second shooting happened just after midnight Friday at Wagner Place and Beale.

Police say the victim was shot in the leg. They are now looking for three suspects who were seen leaving the area.
