(Memphis) Four Memphis Police officers are off the job with pay after a domestic disturbance. Police were called Sunday morning to a home in the 1200 block of Brady Hollow Lane.

It’s where police say MPD Officer Steve Saffold lives and argued with his girlfriend, Officer Karen Love.

According to the affidavit, Saffold slapped Love across the face. He is now charged with domestic assault.

Police report that two other officers, Prinshere Hall and Ryan Mendoza, witnessed the fight. All four officers are relieved of duty while their involvement is investigated.

“I think that’s more of a personal issue between those two individuals. I don’t think it’s the nature that they are cops. I think that in this day and age, relationships are tough,” said neighbor Alfredo Mesa about the dispute.

Neighbors said Thursday several law enforcement officers live in the neighborhood, and they were surprised to hear about the incident.

“I saw a couple of police vehicles and that gives you peace but obviously with that not too much,” said Kenneth Villarreal.

This is the second investigation Mendoza has been involved in the past year. He was relieved of duty in November after a DUI arrest.

Saffold is due in court on July 17, 2013, with an attorney. He was released without bond.
