(Memphis) The Aging Commission Of The Mid-South helps hundreds of seniors make it through the hot summer by providing them with fans, but this year donations have dried up.

The agency normally gives away one hundred fans a week, but yesterday gave away they last one they had.

They are asking churches, businesses, groups and individuals in the community to step up and donate a 20" box fan that costs between $15 and $20.

Directors say it's a small price to pay to help those most at risk during the summer and could save a life.

"I know fans just move around the air that's there, but it does cool you off and help you survive," said Dora Ivey.

The fans are given to those over the age of 60 who do not have a working air conditioner.
