(Horn Lake, MS) If you’ve lived in Memphis very long, you know there’s more to Elvis Presley than Graceland.

There’s the family’s apartment at the old Lauderdale Courts, a house on Audubon in East Memphis, and the Circle G Ranch, in Horn Lake.

Now, a tourist group wants to put up an Elvis tribute statue in Horn Lake, and Aldermen like the idea.

”Well, it’ll bring in all kinds of tourists in. That’s what you need people to come and see what you have to offer people” said Horn Lake Alderman John Jones.

Sue Mack of “Mike’s Memphis Tours” says a statue paying tribute to the king of rock and roll will help put Horn Lake on the tourist map.

Elvis reportedly bought the Circle G, back in 1967, and came here to ride horses. He’s even said to have spent his honeymoon with Priscilla in a home on the property.

The Circle G Foundation wants to put the statue in a public park, probably Latimer Lakes, to give tourists unrestricted access to the king, dressed as a cowboy.

It would remain there until a developer finally does something with the ranch property.

”Circle G was gone for a while. It’s still a vital part of this community if it takes off but the statue and the recognition it would bring, I think, would be a blessing” said Jones.

The group plans to get Graceland’s blessing for the project, and hopes to have the statue up, and tourists streaming in within a couple of years.
