Police said his mother was sleeping inside the house at the time.

Police were called shortly before 5:00p.m. to the 4700 block of Rolling Meadows Drive in Raleigh.

According to police when the mother woke, she could not find her twin sons.

After  a few minutes, she found one son but then noticed a screen had been pushed out of a window.

As police were helping search, a family member saw Courtland Thompson in the pool na pulled him out.

The boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Neighbors said the boy and his twin brother were always seen playing in the front yard while their grandmother watched.

It is recommended that homes with children should have a fence around their pool that separates it from the house.
